Conceptual Art

GALLERY

This piece was made out of a sheet of self-sticking vinyl. The sheet was cut in strips and formed and shaped into the figure. The sheet was painted with acrylic beforehand. The paint does not really want to take to the waxy surfuce. It forms these wonderful patterns on the surface.

This roll of vinyl was picked up at a school rubbish dump where someone threw it away. Thus it has found a new lease of life as a sculpture.

I live just behind a shopping centre. One day I saw all these carton boxes being thrown away. I thought that they might become material for some art. After cutting and experimenting with it. I got it right to get rounded forms out of the flat surfaces. I glued the flat surfaces together to form the sculpture. Take a look at the old carton boxes and what they have become.

I got these pieces of corri-board or plastic board that estate agents use to advertize as throwaway off-cuts at a signwriting bussiness. I started to cut and play around with it. It turned out to be a wonderful medium to express conceptual ideas in. TUFF deals with man's desire for "bigger and better".
